Since it was founded in December 1996, Grupo Farmasierra's vocation has been to become its clients' strategic partner and accompany them from the preliminary research needed for formulation to the development of medicinal products and the integral management of their distribution and promotion.
During this process, clients contract services that require technology development, manufacturing and distribution, along with a range of services associated with those activities, such as analytical and galenic development, quality control and stability programmes.
R&D&I
The R&D&I area creates new products to be marketed on its own behalf or via licensing to other companies. This area is made up of 15 persons and laboratories for analytical and galenic development, a pilot plant, industrial scaling and IMP (Investigational Medicinal Products) preparation area. Furthermore, a multidisciplinary committee evaluates and makes decisions on the development of new products.
Manufacturing
The Manufacturing Area (Farmasierra Manufacturing, S.L.) consists of two sections - Pharmaceuticals and Cosmetics - which comply with the regulatory requirements related to manufacturing medicinal products, food supplements and cosmetics and offer other laboratories manufacturing services.
Farmasierra Manufacturing's plant is located in San Sebastian de los Reyes (Madrid) and extensively produces and packages solids (tablets, capsules, sachets, extemporaneous solutions, etc.), semisolids (gels, ointments, creams) and liquids (solutions, suspensions, syrups) with an installed capacity of 70 million containers.
Distribution
The Distribution Area (Farmasierra Distribución, S.L.), which consists of 20 persons, develops activities related to the distribution of products on its own behalf or on behalf of other laboratories to wholesalers and pharmacies from its central warehouse in the municipality of Cabanillas del Campo in Guadalajara. The warehouse is equipped with state-of-the-art technology for communications, warehouse management and order preparation, according to the product-to-person system. It has a capacity of over 21,000 pallets with a distribution capacity of 100 million units per year.
Commercialisation
The Commercial Area (Farmasierra Laboratorios, S.L. and Laboratório Farmasierra Portugal, Lda.) conducts its activities in Spain and Portugal through sales networks that encompass all areas of healthcare.
It conducts medical visits in the specialties of gynaecology, orthopaedics, pneumology and primary care, among other medical specialities and sales in pharmacies.
Farmasierra Laboratorios' pharmacopoeia is made up of 46 products divided into eight families: pain and inflammation, gynaecology, urology, paediatrics, Farmasierra Classic, Farmasierra Generics, Farmasierra Natural and Línea 20.

Farmasierra's extensive pharmacopoeia provides a broad range of therapeutic solutions that are to be made available to healthcare professionals, which requires proper planning and synchronised activities so that physicians, pharmacists and patients receive the information each one requires. To achieve this, Grupo Farmasierra has a Healthcare Programme that encompasses a series of initiatives aimed to improve the information on the company's products that health professionals and patients receive. The programme's philosophy is based on transparent information and trust.
One of the initiatives in the Healthcare Programme is the structuring of Farmasierra's Pharmacopoeia into families. Each group has a differentiated line of communication and image, which facilitates the identification, prescription, advice on and use of its products by pharmacists and patients.
